Usually, a social ceremony like marriage is best celebrated in the presence of all friends and family members, who play crucial roles to make it a memorable event for whole life, for the couple and their families, as well as their guests.

The invitation cards step in as the startup of the joyous celebration of a wedding and Indians are known to be particularly sensitive about the appearance of a wedding invitation card, which sets the mood of the guests fit for attending that marriage.

The history of scroll invitations in the Indian society

Initially, the scroll invitations or letters were used to be sent by the Indian royals in the medieval period and the scroll forms were named as “Farman” in the royal courts, which meant “order” of the kings. Due to the majestic style of the Indian emperors, these scroll letters bore a magnificent look and were originally written over satin or silk fabrics, with decorated wooden rollers installed on both sides of the letter.

Later on, the Indians adopted this style for their domestic use as well and now this regal custom has been modified into Imposing scroll wedding invitations, made of gorgeous paper or fabric and specifically adorned for sending the happy message of the ringing of wedding bells to the well-wishers of the couple, so that they can attend and make the event more graceful.

The various sorts of scroll wedding invitations existing now

Though the scroll cards are mostly used for inviting the guests in wedding ceremonies among Indians, the elegance of these invitation cards inspires many people to use them in various other occasions as well, like birthday parties or any other theme-based party. Hence, various types of Indian wedding invitations designs are available now in online stores and in shops, for the interested customers.

Usually five types of scroll wedding invitations are now designed and marketed by the card manufacturers, as per the catalogues provided by them online.

Small sized scroll – This smaller sized scroll is plainly written and fully customized on handmade shiny paper, which may be translucent in nature and with brilliantly bright colors. This type is used when very less text is needed to be printed on the invitation card.

Usually silk screen printing is used to type the invitation letter on the cards, with golden colored alphabets. The box containing this scroll has golden borders on both sides and golden floral designs on the top of the box.

High-end scroll – This medium sized scroll is printed on shimmering silk paper in gorgeous colors, using silk screen printing of gold, silver or red colors, to give stunning appearance. The colors of the rods match with the tassel tying the scroll wedding invitations, kept inside the dome-shaped hard boxes with royal appearance, which are of the same color as the base letter.

Theme scroll – Nowadays, many Indian couples opt for theme weddings and the significant theme is applied right from sending the scroll marriage cards to their guests. Usually, fairytale themes like Cinderella are embraced to carry on a majestic style wedding. The scroll letter is here decorated with lots of sparkles over the matt-finished or glossy paper or silk fabrics.

Sometime, silk or satin fabric may also be used for writing the scroll wedding cards of regal status, decorated with golden or silver zari embroidery or glamorous designs all over the letter and the box.
