Formal legal education, which is taught at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate levels, is gaining a lot of popularity in India. Students can come across a variety of legal degrees at both UG and PG levels. Law degrees at the undergraduate level include BA LLB, BBA LLB, and B. Com LLB.

If you are looking for a career-focused course after your 12th grade, the law is one of the prominent ones. Students in India have the option to Study law after earning their graduation in any field. Some of the levels of legal education in India include:

BA LLB, B. Com LLB, or B.Sc. LLB (Integrated Course)

After completing the 10+2 level of education, you can apply for a 5-year program if you want to pursue an integrated study in law. The five-year integrated LLB has more variations and is quite popular. Other subjects or disciplines are frequently merged with legal education in a 5-year integrated law program.

For instance, BA LLB is a Bachelor of Arts – Bachelor of Laws integrated course of five-year duration. Students may have to take entrance exams like LSAT India or CLAT to join this course, which helps them study Business Law, Constitutional Law, Code of Civil Procedure, Human rights, Economics, and Political Science. After graduation, students can also choose to study PhD., LLM, or LLD, which is a two-year course.

For a BBA LLB degree, LLB is combined with the study of corporate and business administration, while a BCA LLB degree helps you study law in conjunction with the study of computer applications and information technology.

B. Tech LLB

The study of law subjects is combined with the provision of technical education.

Requirements to Study Law in India

In general, a candidate seeking admission to any of the 5-year LLB programs must have at least a 45% overall grade point. The minimal score requirement, however, may vary depending on the college you want to seek admission to.

Further, the candidate must have studied science in class 12 if applying to programs like B.tech. LLB or B.Sc. LLB. However, applicants for the three-year LLB program must have earned their bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in any discipline.

The standards set by various institutions to study law may change from college to college when it comes to the minimum grades needed to pass the qualifying test.
